"I love your Latino culture."

"I love your Latino culture." Will | Denver, CO

WILL, COLORADO'S LATINO CULTURE DOES FEEL Special.

That's why we're working to close the opportunity gap, ensuring our Latinx students and other underrepresented learners have the resources they need to turn their passion projects into career paths.

First-gen students at CU Boulder

Making room for what everyone brings to the table.

Our students breathe life into Colorado – bringing their dreams, their hopes, and their goals to our campuses. What we do with those aspirations is important, because they'll shape the course of the future. At CU, we know that everyone wants something different, and everyone needs different support to succeed, which is why we try to ensure that every CU student has the resources they need to turn their unique ideas into fruitful paths into their futures. See what each of our campuses are doing to support our student body:

Denver
As one of only four four-year HSIs in the state, CU Denver continues to invest in closing opportunity gaps through programs like TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS), which provides first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities comprehensive academic advising, peer mentoring, financial aid guidance, leadership development, career preparation, and culturally centered community programming.

Boulder
The Office of First-Generation Programs and Enrichment amplifies first-gen students' voices, builds community, and strengthens academic foundations through initiatives like First-Gen Fridays, career readiness workshops, peer mentoring, and leadership development. Community-building events include monthly gatherings like Cafecito y Chisme for Latinx students, and cultural commencement celebrations that foster belonging and celebration across identities.

Colorado Springs
UCCS' MOSAIC Department houses multicultural programs, the First2Go first-generation initiative, and International Student and Scholar Services, offering individualized support, skill-building, mentorship, and expanded access to campus resources. As a designated First-Generation Serving Institution and member of the FirstGen Forward Network, UCCS is committed to continuous improvement and collaboration to ensure first-generation and underrepresented students persist, graduate, and thrive.

Anschutz
Another Hispanic-Serving Institution, CU Anschutz promotes an inclusive, identity-safe climate by addressing inequities and supporting students’ social, emotional, academic, and career development. Initiatives such as the FirstUp Program connect first-generation medical students with dedicated mentors and alumni to strengthen professional growth, while organizations like the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) provide community, leadership development, and advocacy opportunities that ensure students are supported from classroom to clinical practice and beyond.
