"I love your Latino culture." - Cloned Will | Denver, CO

WILL, COLORADO'S LATINO CULTURE DOES FEEL Special.

That's why we're working to close the opportunity gap, ensuring all our students, including Latino learners, have the resources they need to turn their passion projects into career paths.

First-gen students at CU Boulder

Your path is yours to carve.

At CU, we know that the dreams, experiences, and perspectives our students bring to campus don't just enrich our communities, they shape the futures of their fields, their industries, and the people around them. That's why every campus in the CU system works to make sure you're not just welcomed here, but genuinely supported in becoming whoever you will be. See what that looks like across our campuses:

Denver

CU Denver's Center for Access and Campus Engagement (CACE) addresses opportunity gaps in higher education through research-based programs designed to increase educational access for undergraduate students. Within CACE, the Black Student Services Program offers a uniquely designed network of support to assist students in all phases of their educational career at CU Denver, from academic advising and mentorship to career preparation and community programming. The Center also houses American Indian, Asian American, Latinx, and Undocumented Student Services, so every student can find a space that reflects their identity and meets them where they are.

Boulder

The Center for African and African American Studies (CAAAS, pronounced "Cause") is the focal point for campus and community life rooted in the historical, cultural, sociopolitical, and artistic experiences of Africans, African Americans, and the African diaspora at CU Boulder. With program areas spanning research, visual and performing arts, and community-building, the CAAAS promotes knowledge production, mentorship, leadership training, and advocacy for social change. Boulder's Center for Cultural Connections & Community (formerly the Center for Inclusion and Social Change) supports students across multiple identities and houses the First-Generation Programs and Enrichment Office, which advocates for first-gen students through the First-Generation Scholars Program and enrichment programs. Together, these centers help ensure that Black students and students of color thrive and lead at CU Boulder.

Colorado Springs

UCCS MOSAIC's mission is to provide holistic support through advocacy, personal development, and community cultivation for students from historically and currently marginalized populations — explicitly including Black, African, and African American students. MOSAIC's affiliated Black Student Union is a social club centered on Black, African American, and African history and modern-day Black culture, supporting and fostering an environment that creates a sense of belonging, empowerment, and free expression for all UCCS students, staff, and faculty. UCCS also offers the Women's and Ethnic Studies (WEST) Department, one of few departments in the U.S. that merges gender and sexuality studies with race and ethnic studies through an interdisciplinary and intersectional approach that equips students with critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills that translates across careers in law, healthcare, education, government, and beyond.

Anschutz

At CU Anschutz, the commitment to equity in healthcare and research runs deep. In June 2020, 40 Black students and allies developed the Black Student Collective Resolution on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, providing over 87 action items for the reduction of racial injustices — a testament to the power of student voice in shaping institutional change. Today, the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement continues that work, and the campus maintains dedicated resources including a Black Faculty and Staff Affinity Group and the Office of Educational Outreach and Pathway Initiatives to ensure students are supported from their first day on campus through clinical practice and professional life. For students drawn to medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or public health, Anschutz offers a pathway where your community is woven into your curriculum.
