JACQUELINE, WE Love
GETTING OUTSIDE,
TOO.

We want Coloradans across the state to enjoy outdoor activities, so we’re helping make physical therapy programs more accessible to rural communities.

The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences and University of Colorado School of Medicine at Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) have renewed their academic partnership within the University of Colorado system.

This collaboration combines resources and expertise from both campuses to offer a cohesive curriculum for students pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. The DPT program prepares graduates for roles as clinical practitioners, educators, researchers, administrators, consultants, and advocates.

"We look forward to combining our world-class physical therapy education with innovative teaching practices and practical experiences," said Jackie Berning, UCCS Health Sciences department chair.

The hybrid program is ideal for students interested in rural healthcare or a physical therapy career in a rural community. Clinical experiences will be in Colorado Springs, rural Colorado, and nationwide. Students are encouraged to complete some clinical work in their local communities.

“Our partnership with UCCS allows us to better meet the healthcare needs in Southern Colorado, strengthens our inter-campus collaborations, and positions us to lead as the delivery of clinical education continues to evolve.”
