UCCS Initiative “Patriots to Pros” Provides Pathways for Veterans

In 2022, UCCS's College of Business and PGA Golf Management (PGM) launched Patriots to Pros, a program designed to help military members and veterans transition into rewarding careers in the PGA. What began as a small pilot has grown significantly and now receives support from a Colorado Section PGA REACH grant and a private donor.

Participants in the program explore various golf career opportunities, develop skills in club fitting, and learn the fundamentals of instruction. They also connect with a Colorado PGA Career Counselor to access job opportunities, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and mentorship from industry leaders.

A veteran and program coordinator, Jon Husby, emphasizes the program’s impact: “Patriots to Pros empowers transitioning military members and veterans to find fulfilling careers in golf.”

With the continued support of grants and donors, UCCS PGA Golf Management aims to expand Patriots to Pros, creating even more opportunities for military members and veterans to thrive in the golf industry.
