EMMA, WE Love THAT AIRPORT—AND ITS MUSTANG—TOO.

That’s why we’re making sure the team behind one of the world’s busiest airports continues to soar with the help of CU grads.

Denver International Airport, where Andrea Albo serves as deputy chief of staff, is one of the busiest in the world, handling nearly 80 million passengers annually. A CU Denver alum, and Denver native, Albo helps ensure the airport runs smoothly, connecting the city to over 200 global destinations.

After earning her associate’s degree, Albo transferred to CU Denver for its flexible programs, allowing her to work full-time and raise a family while studying. Though her experience was unconventional, she values the unique path she took.

Albo graduated with honors in psychology and worked at Denver Human Services and the Denver Sheriff's Department, where she helped implement over 400 reforms. Later she became senior vice president of culture and strategy at Denver International Airport, leading wellness, equity, and diversity efforts, and creating the Center of Equity and Excellence in Aviation.

“CU Denver helped launch my public service career,” she said. As the airport grows, Albo partners with CU Denver to develop future talent through internships and apprenticeships.

Reflecting on her journey, Albo emphasizes the transformative power of education. “CU Denver gave me the flexibility, community, and resources to build the career I have today.”

And as Denver International Airport continues to grow, Albo remains a key leader, ensuring everything runs smoothly—even under the watchful eye of its famous (and slightly intimidating) blue mustang.
